New successive project proposal accepted as IGCP679!

Our successive new project proposal submitted last mid-October to IGCP Office, was approved as IGCP679 during the IGCP Council Meeting on 18-21 February 2019 at the UNESCO Office, Paris. The news was open on the UNESCO website below:

IGCP679 shortly titled
“Cretaceous Earth Dynamics and Climate in Asia”, and fully titled
“Linkage of Cretaceous solid earth dynamics, greenhouse climate, and response of ecosystems on lands and in the oceans in Asia”
is one of eight projects accepted among a total of 21 new proposals in 2019.

Compared with last year and before, the titles of accepted projects tend to be related to SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals), a collection of 17 global goals set by the United Nations General Assembly in 2015. Our project title would be appropriate to be well evaluated during the Scientific Council examination processes.

This excellent result was really derived from great effort of the chief leader, Prof. Li and four co-leaders, and their collaborators during proposal processes.

Under the new project plan, the first international meeting of IGCP679 will be held in Shandong Province, China during mid-October. Non-marine Cretaceous sequences and the Cretaceous dinosaur geopark are planned to visit during the excursion.
